COMPARISON — TRADINGVIEW

Keep the charts. Move the alerts.

TradingView is the best charting platform in the business — that's not in dispute here. But if what you need is price alerts, you're paying charting prices for them: capped per tier, expiring after two months below Premium, with never-expiring alerts starting at $69.95/mo. For the watchlist itself, there's a cheaper, uncapped way.

01THE CAPS

What TradingView alerts cost, tier by tier

Two limits matter, and they compound. First the caps: active price alerts run from 3 on Free to 1,000 on Ultimate. Second the expiry: below Premium, every alert stops after two months — the cycle-target alert you set in March is gone by May. And 2026 prices rose roughly 17–20% across tiers.

(Indicator alerts are tracked separately at the same caps — TradingView's own doc phrases Premium as 800 active alerts, 400 price + 400 technical. We quote the price-alert slots, since that's the feature being compared.)

Chart there, get pinged here

The setup we'd actually run: a free TradingView plan for charting, and the standing watchlist on coinsentry — unlimited levels across Binance and 12 other exchanges, each pinned to that exchange's real feed, delivered to Telegram, Discord, Slack, email or webhooks a median 2.8 seconds after the cross. Total cost: $64.99/yr ($5.42/mo) — versus $69.95/mo for the TradingView tier where alerts stop expiring.

04FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers

Q1How many alerts does TradingView allow?

Active price alerts by plan: Free 3, Essential 20, Plus 100, Premium 400, Ultimate 1,000 — technical (indicator) alerts are tracked separately at the same caps. TradingView's own docs phrase Premium as 800 active alerts, counting both kinds together.

Q2Do TradingView alerts expire?

Below Premium, yes — alerts stop after two months and must be re-created. Never-expiring alerts start at Premium, $69.95/mo. coinsentry alerts never expire on any plan.

Q3Is there a cheaper alternative to TradingView for price alerts?

For pure price alerts, yes. TradingView's no-expiry threshold is Premium at $69.95/mo. coinsentry is $7.99/mo (or $5.42/mo annually) for unlimited never-expiring crypto alerts across 13,000+ pairs — but it does charts not at all, and crypto only.

Q4Can I keep TradingView for charts and use something else for alerts?

That's the workflow we'd recommend: chart on TradingView's free plan, run the always-on price watchlist somewhere uncapped. Nothing about either tool conflicts with the other.

Q5Does the alternative support webhooks?

Yes — the Unlimited plan includes webhooks (HMAC-signed JSON POST with custom headers and method), alongside Telegram, Discord, Slack and email, and every account starts with a 30-day free trial of all of it. On TradingView, webhook notifications are a paid-plan feature too.
